Part A (Hospital insurance)

Helps cover:

Part B (Medical insurance)

Helps cover:

  • Services from doctors and other health care providers
  • Outpatient care
  • Home health care
  • Durable medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds and other equipment)
  • Many preventive services (screenings, shots or vaccines and yearly wellness visits)

Part D (Drug coverage)

  • Helps cover cost of prescription drugs
  • Plans that offer Medicare drug coverage are run by private insurance companies that follow set rules from Medicare

Oct. 15 to Dec. 7: Change your Medicare health or drug coverage for 2021 if needed.

Jan. 1, 2021: New coverage begins (if you make a change).

Jan. 1 to March 31, 2021: If you are in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can change to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or switch to original Medicare (and join a separate Medicare drug plan) once during this time period.
